Aftercare

  • Listen to your body and what it needs :)

  • You may see blood & clear liquid in your bandage. This is normal.

  • Take your Dermshield/second skin bandage off in 3-4 days.

    • Wash your hands with unscented antibacterial soap.

    • Slowly peel bandage from top to bottom in direction of hair growth.

    • Once bandage is removed, gently wash the area with antibacterial soap. I recommend unscented Dr. Bronner’s or unscented Dial soap. A gentle lather does the trick, no scrubbing.

    • Pat dry with clean paper towel, or let air dry.

    • Put on a thin layer of unscented lotion.

  • Gently wash & moisturize your tattoo 2-3 times/day for 2-3 weeks, until healed.

  • Continue to moisturize your tattoo for 6 months-1 year for optimum healing.

Important Reminders:

  • No soaking for a minimum of 2 weeks, 3 to be safe. (No bathing or swimming)

  • No sun for 2 weeks. Sunscreen can be applied after 2 weeks.

  • No working out/sweating when Dermshield/bandage is on.

  • The Dermshield bandage is water resistant, but I recommend taking quick showers for the days you have the bandage on.

  • Healing can take 2-6 weeks. Scabbing and/or peeling can occur. Do not pick at scabs or peeling skin.

  • Consult a physician at the first sign of an adverse reaction. (i.e. swelling, infections, illness, allergic reaction, extreme pain, or disease); tattoos should be considered permanent, and can only be removed with a surgical or laser procedure and that any effective removal may leave scarring.
